Hollow Ox - Pleaides (2009)

Hollow Ox is a post-rock ensemble from Nashville that specializes in sweeping anthemics and cinematic atmospherics; all the while keeping a psychedelic dreamy grandeur to the proceedings- many of the vocals are half-buried under the weight of the drony guitars giving it an other-worldly feel. The gauzy production values are both beautiful and serene, giving it an element of added ethereal splendor.

While
the opener 2012 flashes forward with rushing intensity, the remainder of the songs are slow-burners; the musicianship between Mike Crouch, Matt McKeever, Jeremy McCall and Cole Street evokes comparisons to post-rock heavies Mogwai, et. al.

Do yourself a solid and grab this.
