thanks for all of the good music, jimmy. i check for new tunes here a couple of times a month and your curatorial touch will be missed. spotify is fine and all but what blogs like this provide is a great service in trudging through the mass of recorded music and digging up something overlooked. a well-developed program can augment collector's habits but nothing will ever replace the basic impulse of people sharing music with people. i've added several records to my collection based on my initial discovery at out sounds. without getting too philosophical, i'll stop short to merely thank you for broadening and enriching my sonic palate. cheers.

sorry to see you go bro. i don't know why you are being singled out by the dmca assholes. it's strange, i rarely get any of those notices and my mediafire account has over 800 files ready for download. maybe it's my cryptic way of naming the files? anyway i absolutely disagree with you that Spotify has made blogs like ours obsolete. i don't use Spotify, but i'm fairly certain that there are more blogs that are going strong than there are Spotify users sharing music. anyway i feel that the blogs are more than just a tool for downloading (sharing, stealing whatever) free music. i go to them to discover new weirdness, to read about what new stuff is coming out and turning people on and finding rare obscurities that i am sure won't be on Spotify. from what i understand they haven't even been able to license any music by the Beatles?! is that correct? i'm not a Spotify hater or anything, i just have no interest in it. and i don't feel threatened that it will keep my 539 blog followers from continuing to visit me daily. anyway, sad to see another ally go out. peace jimmy!
